Find the affected connection
Ask the contractor for a drawing identifying the exposed chimney section, the support or brace, its attachments and any roof area being replaced around them. DuraVent's DuraPlus instructions give an example of a system with roof-support requirements. An installation for another manufacturer or another pipe series may need different hardware. Do not try to steady, straighten or tighten pipe from a ladder.
Decide who supplies the system detail
The roofer can describe its roof repair while the chimney professional identifies the manufacturer's support requirements relevant to that configuration. Before work starts, establish who can determine whether the existing hardware can be retained and what part would be supplied if it cannot. If connector or attachment details are concealed, document what needs inspection during removal.
Ask for a hand-back photograph
Request a wide view of the supported chimney and a detail of the affected roof connection after both trades finish. Where the pipe has moved or support is in doubt, keep the appliance unused until the system is assessed. File the model reference and any changed hardware alongside the roof invoice so a future repair does not treat the support as an unidentified bracket.
